These are a few photos of my studio. It is a small bedroom in my very small home. In my opinion it is the best room in the house! It boasts good light, faces the park across the street and has lovely wood floors. I’m not very good with minimalism, so I usually just try to organize the chaos in a pleasing way. I take that approach with the rest of my house too!

Although there’s a bit more to the office/studio I share with my hubby, this here would be the part I stare at most of the day… sometimes blankly, sometimes sobbing with tears of frustration and sometimes cranking away feverishly on a plum project.
I do most of my illustrations digitally. However, there are times when a little painting, a little pastel, or perhaps a bit of graphite is in order. This is when I retire to ye ole garage studio… unless, of course, it’s a triple digit summer day. On those days I stick with digital, to avoid sweating profusely and consequently causing unsightly smearing on the artwork.
I’ll tell ya, it’s nice having the choice and the space to do it in.
This information was shared in illia today. Illia is the list-serve for all the SCBWI Illustration Coordinators.
My recipe for Deviled Eggs has been posted at They Draw and Cook! Artists are invited to submit an illustrated recipe. Yummy for the tummy and the eyes!!
Check it out! Here’s my link:
Where are paintbrushes, the pencils, the paper… well they’re there… tucked away in a drawer. Often they’re in hand as I watch TV or wait for ballet class to end.
This is where those pencil drawings come to life!
I spent years as a traditional artist. I was even digitally resistant! A few years ago, I was searching for a way to take my skills to a new level and I thought I’d give it a try…. just a try mind you. Little did I know how much I would love this medium. It’s opened new doors of creativity for me! I love it, and I rarely go a day without working on something.
When the Pud goes to Kindergarten, we’ve talked about building a studio out back, but this works for now. I can work and keep an eye on the activities of a small kiddo.
Anyway, if you need to find me…. just look here. I’ll be working on something!
Roberta and I were discussing possible themes for March, and we decided on CHARMED. Check here to see more of the charm inside our doodler studios. Woohoo! I love seeing how and where other artists work!
Here is a peek of the ol’ princesstomato studio. (please excuse mess…artist at work).
My favorite “studio charm” at the moment is the TOFUFU kitty and mouse jar. I bought it at an airport and have always wished I had room in my bag to get the matching green dog on that trip. Sigh.
I am a little behind with February news, but here is mine.
I am so excited because I just booked my airline ticket to THIS:
I will be attending the one with Dominic Catalano April 8-11, and I am very much looking forward to it. I wish I could just stay the whole month of April. Just look at the lineup of workshops!
